The parents of jailed Belarusian journalist Raman Pratasevich, and his partner, Sofia Sapega, confirmed that both have been transferred to house arrest.
Dzmitry Pratasevich told the BBC that he does not know why authorities made the move.
“Avokat says nothing, authorities say nothing”, the journalist's father said. Sapegas' stepfather also confirmed that she has moved into domestic arrest and that she lives only in a small apartment in Minsk.
On May 23rd, Belarusian authorities have forced a Ryanair Company plane to land in Minsk.
Pratasevich and his partner aboard the plane were then arrested.
Pratasevich is accused of supporting protests against the Belarusn regime, while Sapega is inciting riots.
Western countries have accused Belarus of hijacking the aircraft, which has been flying from Athens to Vilnius when forced to divert direction.
The European Union has imposed sanctions on Belarus because of the incident.
