Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Blerta Deliu has declared that more than 10 per cent of students have not participated in distance learning at all or over 32 thousand students.

She said the government has failed to provide opportunities for education to be qualitative, until she added that students and parents have had numerous difficulties during online learning.

Deliu said the same have not had the support of Kosovo institutions even by enabling technological equipment.

“Mby 10 per cent of students have not participated in remote learning, these will otherwise be registered as students who have abandoned school during the pandemic. Rather, there are 32,000 and 863 of them who have not followed online instruction, while reports from the municipalities are up to 20 per cent who have failed to attend online instruction at all. There has even been a very large division in learning between vulnerable groups and other groups because of limited access to electronic devices that enable distance learning to continue such as computer, tablet, or even phone”, she said.

Deliu said last year's second semester is almost entirely lost. She said schools and municipalities are currently abandoned by this government.

“Mbi 300 teachers have been relieved of office precisely because of their state of health and despite having been set aside the budget by up to 500 additional teachers, such a measure was never effectively implemented so far. The municipalities and schools are currently abandoned by this government, in fact this government and Mr. Minister do not know if he has visited a single school so far except that it is involved in the competencies of some of the schools. No support for families that have no opportunity and conditions for their children to provide equipment and other technology tools”, she said.

The PDK MP said that primary means of protection from infection are currently lacking in schools. She said no measures imposed for protection from COVID-19 in schools were respected, the student staff's temperature was cited before entering school facilities.

Deliu said the government has failed to provide vaccines for teachers, even said Prime Minister Kurti has refused vaccines from Albania for his interests.

This government, more than 60 days in government, has made no effort to provide any vaccine to protect their health, even you know it has refused even when these vaccines have been offered by the Republic of Albania, have been rejected by Prime Minister Kurti. Teachers today need to know that this refusal has only been done for the sake of a desperate campaign in Albania's elections. So, a prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo that his political ambition for power and abroad puts on citizens and on the country's teachers”, she said.

She has found the decision to organize the supplementary teaching scandalous, since she said that there is no record of the number of children who have not followed the lesson.
