Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina are also among the beneficiaries.
As long as we continue to fight the COVIDD pandemic-19 at home and work to end pandemic worldwide, the president [Joe] Biden has promised that the United States will be arsenal of vaccines for the world”, the White House said through a statement.
Of the 55 million doses, 41 million will be distributed via the World Health Organization's COVAEX programme.
According to the White House, about 14 million will go to Latin America and the Caribbean, 16 million in Asia and 10 million in Africa.
The remainder will be distributed on the basis of “regional priorities” in countries such as Colombia, Argentina, Iran, Ukraine, the West Coast and Gaza.
Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina will receive vaccines from the direct distribution.
It is not clear how many vaccines these two countries will benefit and when they will arrive.
The vaccines are part of an 80 million-sosh contingent that US President Joe Biden has vowed to donate to help fight the pandemic.
The plan to distribute the first 25 million doses has been made public earlier this month.
Days ago, during a summit of the group of the most industrialized countries, G7, Biden has pledged that the US will donate another billion vaccines against COVID-19.
