“Twenty-two years ago, following the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1244/1999, NATO deployed over 50,000 troops in Kosovo as part of its KFOR mission to ensure a safe and secure environment, and to ensure freedom of movement in the best interests of all communities living in Kosovo”, KFOR reports.
Currently, KFOR consists of about 3,600 troops from 27 countries, including NATO countries and its partners.
“KFOR continues to play an essential role, in providing security throughout Kosovo and stability throughout the Western Balkans region”, Major General Franco Federici, KFOR commander, stressed during a memorial ceremony held in “Camp Film City” (Pristina), which is a host of the mission's central offices.
During the conduct of activities, KFOR works in close co-operation with a range of acts, including the United Nations, the European Union Mission for Rule of Law and Security Organisations in Kosovo.
