Former Kosovo ambassador to Washington following warnings of sanctions from the White House, explains why Ahtisaari's agreement is not mentioned
I've been very happy and celebrated, but I've had a side that suspects this is an individual decision. He has committed all the crimes himself, but the state he represented. We, like Kosovo, have to take a very big lesson since Serbia is not ready to accept the reality and decision of a court. I, both Bosniak and Bosnian in the world, have waited a lot, but justice has taken its right course”.
Balje has said Kosovo should be well prepared not to miss the case at the International Court of Justice.
“We know that genocide has occurred in Kosovo, but to prove this we must be ready. We need to secure the evidence properly, if once the International Court says there was no genocide in Kosovo then we are more entitled to apply. Serbia has to do the apology, but I don't think it's ready. Serbia still accepts the court's decision and considers Mladic hero”.
Balje has said the story of Albanians and Bosniaks is the same, but that “Bosnja has received a much greater sentence because the war has lasted more”.
“Each Bosniak person in the world has accepted Kosovo as a state in his heart”, Balje said.
