Marsh represents the first test for Israel's new French government, which was sworn in Sunday and comprised of the country's entire political spectrum, including a small Arab party.
The annulment of the march would expose the new Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett and the other right-wing members who are part of the government before intense criticism by those who see it as a capitulation to Hamas militants in Gaza, the Guardian reports, Pryscopic conveys.
Hamas has called on Palestinians to resist the march.
Mansour Abbas, whose small party is the first Arab facion to join an Israeli government coalition, told a local radio station that he was against any “approval”, adding that “anyone who has seen and followed this parade knows its goal”.
Every year, Israeli ultranationalists wave blue flags and cheer slogans until they march through the Damascus Gate to the dense heart of Muslims to celebrate Israel's capture of East Jerusalem in the 1967 war.
The parade was originally scheduled to be held on May 10th.
Israeli media have said the crowd would walk towards the gate of Damascus but not the Muslim neighborhood. /Periscope
