Due to concern over the possible spread of the Delta variant, the government has postponed the entry of individual tourists until August 1st,”, Israel's Tourism Ministry said.
Israeli Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett said on Wednesday that if every day, for a week more than 100 new cases are recorded with COVID-19, then the wearing of masks in closed environments will be restored.
His warning came after Israel recorded over 100 new cases for the third day in a row.
Bennett also said the number of PCR tests would increase, and measures for people violating quarantine will be added.
At the peak of the pandemic explosion in January, Israel recorded about 10,000 daily cases.
In many parts of the world, serious concerns have been raised about a new wave of infection because of the spread of the Coronanvirus Delta variant, which is believed to be more transmitted than other variants.
But the World Health Organization has said that vaccines generally remain very effective as well.
