The U.S. Army's defense system, C-RAM, activated and fired the drones, which were flying on June 6th, on the Ayn al-Assad base around 12:30 local time, the Iraqi army said.
On May 8, an air - base attack occurred in the province of Anbar. But there were no injuries from this attack.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the military coalition in Iraq, led by the US, said that several hours before the fall of the drones a rocket over Baghdad Airport had been dropped, and in this case, “did not cause human damage and material damage”.
Still no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks. But American officials have blamed Iranian-backed militias, who constantly attack American interests in Iraq, including troops, embassy in Baghdad or Iraqi convoys, carrying supplies to foreign forces.
In March, on a base west of Iraq, which are deployed coalition troops led by the US and contractors, had been hit by ten rockets. In this attack, a contact was killed.
Iranian-related paramilitary groups have asked all foreign troops including the 2,500 US troops to leave Iraq, saying their presence in this country represents occupation.
The US-led coalition, whose mission is to fight the Islamic State militants, continues to be located in Iraq. This state is also a host of the NATO-led mission that trains Iraqi security forces. / REL
