US Ambassador to Kosovo Philip Costet in an interview has spoken of the Washington Agreement reached on 4 September last year between the Hoti government and the United States and Serbia and the United States, which is being contested by Albin Kurti, respectively, writes Periscopi.
After Kurti had declared that this agreement is reached by an illegal and unconstitutional government, Costet has reacted sharply to Kosovo's prime minister in connection with the Association of Serb-run municipalities.
“I think the United States really believes Kosovo has an obligation to form the Association of Serb majority municipalities. History didn't start on the day Kurt's government was formed, and we believe that countries are obliged to comply with the agreements and vows previously made... I know some people have said that we've made enough compromises, it's up to someone else to compromise. It's not a very productive way to move forward”, said Costnet, conveys Periscope.
After the meeting Kurti Vuciq has also reacted to the European Parliament's rapporteur for Kosovo, Violet von Cremon, who has praised the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue as an important step, has doubts that Kurti understands the importance of dialogue.
“Takim was an important step in the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue, as it is the first meeting since Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti took office again this year. I hope he will prove that he understands the importance of this dialogue, as the will is a precondition for successful negotiations, and this applies to both Serbia and Kosovo”, so Danas told European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo Violet von Cromon, writes Periscopi.
Among other things, EU envoy Miroslav Lajcak has spoken.
He said this meeting was not easy, however, for Lajcak the important thing is that Albin Kurti and Vucic sat down together at the table.
The “was not an easy appointment but it is important that this meeting happened. The two leaders demonstrated clearly what they wanted, the two leaders confirmed that there is no other way for the two states without normalising relations. Both are committed to working on normalising relations through dialogue”, Lajcak said.
The next meeting between Kurti and Vucinqi is expected to take place at the end of July./Periscopi/
