The U.S. Navy has done something historic last week after a non-pilot “cister supplied a pilot plane to the sky for the first time.
According to foreign media, Telegrafi, an F/A-18 Super Hornet “connected” to MQ-25 Boeing-owned Stingray in the air and transferred about 145 thousand liters of fuel to the fighter plane, Marina said on Monday.
Intriguing images show the historic moment that the carrying of fuel was successfully performed Friday during the trial flight of about 4.5 hours.
The Super Hornets are seen being set up from MidAmerica Airport in Mascoutah, Illinois and approaching Stingray, which has a <x0...porta” coming out of its back.
Then both planes get closer to each other for less than 20 meters while the plane gets fuel.
Marina said she will analyse the data collected from the flight to determine whether any changes should be made by moving forward on software.
Using non-pilot <x0dron” to supply fighter planes also comes with the benefit of releasing Navy personnel tasked otherwise with jet fuel for other operations.
