The parliament of this state in an anonymous vote elected the 60-year-old head of state, Periscopi conveys.
He was chairman of the Israeli Workers' Party, while opposing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the 2013 parliamentary elections.
In this position he succeeds Raven Revlin, who ends his mandate next month.
But his presidential position is ceremonial, and the country's opposition is currently forming a coalition to bring down Netanyah with a few hours remaining until the deadline is complete. /Periscope
