Kosovo's government is promising platform and strategy for dialogue with Serbia, but after the initial meeting in mid-June, when the next dialogue chapter is expected to be established
Government spokesman Kurti, Kryeziu's progress tells Kosovo Press that the meeting in Brussels will only be held for determining future dialogue, which he stresses will definitely have platforms and strategies when the time comes.
“As for the mid-month meeting, this meeting is not a meeting of dialogue, but it is a meeting for future dialogue. And for future dialogue, there will certainly be platforms and strategies for which we will sit and discuss when the time comes. For the past dialogue, however, there will be discussions in the Assembly and analysis of the agreements thus far, in the sense of their implementation and the impact those agreements have had on the lives of citizens”, he says.
He says that when he agrees on the new chapter of dialogue, the Kurti Government will have the documents needed for positioning in the process.
The “is early as the process and as a step towards the fact that whatever happens in the middle of this month, it is just a discussion about the future of dialogue and not dialogue within that previous process. Then it is possible to handle this meeting as it is for the future, when there is agreement on the new chapter of dialogue there will be necessary documents in which government preparation is made in this process. But you should remember that some documents may be public for discussion, but some others because of the sensitivity of their content cannot be part of the public discussion”, Kryeziu says.
On the other hand, AAK deputy Time Kadrijaj insists on demanding that Prime Minister Kurti bring the platform for dialogue to the Parliament, before leaving for Brussels and hold the meeting with Serbian President Alexander Vuciq.
“Should not go away (Brussels) without a platform, it must quickly bring the platform to the Kosovo Assembly, to debate and also get the proposals of opposition and governing partners. To draw up platforms and know what are the steps of discussion. What we're looking for from Mr. Kurti is that it doesn't surprise us with any agreement that is surprising to Kosovo”, she declares for Kosova Prees.
Kosova Prees on this subject has tried to take the position of two other opposition parties as well, The PDK and LDK, but have not responded.
Meanwhile, the platform for dialogue by the Kurti Government also requires Violet Hajoli from the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI).
We as KDI have called for the government to prepare a platform and strategy for dialogue. It would be good to have a written document where Kosovo's position for this process is clearly articulated. Where an analysis is given to already reached dialogue agreements that collect information from the ground on what happened and how much has been implemented so that the state of Kosovo can have all the information before continuing with dialogue with Serbia”, he says.
In mid-June, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is expected to meet in Brussels with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq.
However, such a meeting has been rejected by Prime Minister Kurti in May.
To prepare for this meeting, during this week, EU Special Emission to Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer remained in Kosovo.
