Macron asked EU countries to be extremely vigilant about the variant, which was first discovered in India.
This option seems to be far more infectious and affecting people who are not entirely vaccinated.
Macron said the EU must make co-ordinated decisions on opening borders for people from other countries.
Warnings were made until British Prime Minister Boris Johnson implied that the United Kingdom is close to allowing unlimited travel abroad for people fully vaccinated.
EU governments have agreed to a 13-nation white “list, for whom residents have to remove travel restrictions.
Australia and the United States belong to this list, but Britain is missing, to which various policies apply.
France and Germany demand that visitors from Britain enter quarantine, while Portugal and Spain, which depend on British tourists, do not demand that.
