The head of state also welcomed the fact that 50% of French adults had received a first dose of the vaccine, which he called a truly historical “moment in the vaccine campaign.
However, he urged the French to stay extremely cautious and vigilant “because the circulation of the virus is advancing to certain parts of the territory, especially southwest.
Macron explained that the decision to start vaccinating teenagers was taken during the Defence Council, which was held in the morning at the Elysee Palace.
The French High Health Authority (HAS) today issued an opinion on the vaccine of the ages of 12-15.
HAS is expected to communicate, following green light from the European Bar Agency (EMA), the decision to use Pfizer product/ B NTech for this age group.
