Pelosi said the committee, led by the Democrats, will target that “determine the truth of that day” and “ensure that an attack of that type could not happen again”.
The move comes after Senate Republicans blocked the bill to establish a two-party committee.
Allied by former US president Donald Trump, they said the committee is not needed.
Trump supporters attacked the Congress building on January 6th, in an effort to prevent the Certificate of the November election result, in which the Democrat candidate, Joe Biden, came out victorious.
The riots left five people dead, including a police official.
The congress, however, managed to certiff the election result, and Biden took office in the month of January.
The U.S. Congress blamed Trump for inciting riots, but he was acquitted of the Senate.
