A picture taken several days after the 22nd anniversary of the end of one of the KLA's most glorious battles in this country presents a shameful state of the observation tower, at which the Serbian flag is placed. The Serbian medium published the news, Blic.
The picture, which was published on an Instagram page by Serbs, features the Serbian flag waving in the ruins of the watchtower.
“The true flag in the watchtower” is written in the description below the picture.
The battle of Kostare took place in April and June 1999 under Operation Arrow, between the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) and the Serbian Army. It was one of the bloodiest and most successful battles of the Kosovo war. In this battle, the Serbian Army had lost control of the Kosovo border to Albania, which marked one of the biggest victories for the Kosovo Liberation Army, forcing Serbian soldiers to leave the border and enabling the safe passage of arms and volunteers from Albania to Kosovo.
Kostunica's battle lasted from April 9th to June 10, 1999, when the Kumanovo Agreement was also signed, which ended the war.
In October of last year, a similar incident had occurred at the Pesier Watch Tower. A Serbian priest had removed the red flag from the tower. Kosovo police were later taken into account, while they had also reacted to the KLA War Veterans Organisation, demanding responsibility from the country's institutions.
But after that, a former KLA member had gone and restored the national flag to the top of the tower.
