The DP's current chairman, according to the preliminary result released by the DP, has received over 80% of the vote. The second most voted candidate is Agron Shehiaj with 15.5%, while Edith Harxhi has received 2.4% and Fatbadh Kadili 2% of the vote, according to Euronews Albania.
These are the third elections inside. The PD that Lulzim Basha wins. In the first race to take the lead in the DP, he won in 2013 in front of Sokol Olldashi, while in 2017 after losing in parliamentary elections, he again won the race to be head of the party in front of Edward Selami.
Lulzim Basha has so far led the Democratic Party to three national election processes without accounting for the 2019 local elections, which the opposition boycotted, the 2015 local elections, the 2017 parliamentary elections, and the recent parliamentary elections on April 25th, 2021.
Its closest test will be local elections, projected to take place in 2023. But if the Constitutional Court does not validate the process held in 2019, then we may have a closer date for repeating local elections that were held without opposition.
