The Democratic Party's leader-in-chief candidate, Fatballor Kadil, has declared that the race for the chairman of this party was not fair, however, has acknowledged the result, saying it is an obligation of the Democrats to re-establish a new opposition.
In elections for Democratic Party chairmanship held yesterday in Albania, 41.095 party members, or 54.7%, have exercised the right to vote.
A day after this process, Kandil at a media conference said more than that the race was a challenge that showed that the position is nobody's exclusive. He counted the shortcomings of this process.
“There was a chairman who did not issue offices and used the party administration, there were deputy and branch chiefs who did not comply with the ethical distance demanded from the leadership and national council instructions not to intervene in the process, the list of members from 100,000 to 70 thousand was reduced, there were democrats, party founders and former leaders who did not find the name on the list to vote“, he said.
According to him, all of this shows in the eyes of Albanians who as DP are incapable of taking on the responsibilities awaiting them.
“Albanians saw that within the party the elections were worse than those between the political parties. However, I am not Luli, I accept this result, I accept the Democrat's decision... ... this race is uneven in these conditions, of course I respect the decisions”, he said, adding that he will not leave the DP.
The Democratic Party will announce the results for elections held during Sunday's 13 June for the new chairman.
Of the preliminary results, Lulzim Basha has secured the third term at the helm of the second largest party in the country.
The preliminary data from the blue headquarters speaks of a Basha victory with about 81% of the vote.
According to preliminary data, out of 40.674 valid votes, 32.882 votes are for current DP chairman Lulzim Basha, followed by Agron Shehuj with 6,038 votes. Edith Harxhi counts 931 votes, while Fatbard Cadill 763 votes
