Croatian diplomacy chief Gordan Grliq Radman has today encouraged the five European Union member states to recognise Kosovo's independence.
“Croatia encourages the other five EU members to recognise Kosovo, as it would contribute to stabilisation of the region and Kosovo itself,” Radman Grliq told reporters at the international conference G. LOBSEC in Bratislava, where the situation in the Western Balkans will also be discussed.
Radman said respect for the territorial integrity of states is essential for the region's stability.
“The territorial integrity of the Balkan states must be maintained and respected, without re-creating borders, as we have heard in recent months circulated several famous letters, which were directed in that direction”, Grliq Radman said.
Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Spain and Slovakia are the five EU nations that still do not accept Kosovo state.
