Mladic was asked if he could attend the session in a language he understands, while the head of the court, Prisca Matamba Nyamb, who appeared through video connection, recalled that the first indictment against Mladic had risen in 1995, that he was on the run for 16 years and that more than ten years had passed since his arrest. She later spoke of the main charges weighing on the Serbian criminal.
There's only one judge in the courtroom from the Judicial Chamber.
Ratko Mladic's defence team is not in the courtroom. Lawyer Dragan Ivetec could not attend the hearing for health reasons. The Appeals Chamber allowed the defense legal adviser, Peti-Louise Bagott, to attend this session.
