Today the first contingent of vaccines has arrived. Pfizer's COVID-19. BioNTech, by contract signed between the Health Ministry and Pfizer
Today, the first doses of Pfizer's anti-Pavid-19 vaccine from the Health Ministry contract with Pfizer producer have arrived in Kosovo.
Of the priority groups, which have been vaccinated for weeks, so initially health workers, age groups over 65, on June 15th we have started with the implementation of the new mass vaccine plan, which expands the vaccine categories with citizens with chronic diseases indiscriminately, teachers, order forces and KSF members, directly involved in management of the pandemic.
With the arrival of the first doses from the Health Ministry contract with Pfizer, mass inoculation will extend to other categories of the population until our target of active immunization of 60% of citizens by 2021.
These vaccines will help even more our healthcare workers, who have been at the forefront of the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic since the first day. Since pandemic is not only a matter of public health, the Health Ministry and health experts have set a priority in mass vaculation to ensure the normal functioning of social activities that enable a return to social and economic normality for citizens and businesses in Kosovo.
The vaccine is being organised and is being carried out in accordance with the vaccine plan, that is, the time of distribution of vaccines, the number of qualified citizens in priority groups according to the vaccine stages, and the logistical aspects of the cold chain, in line with the condition of transport and storage of vaccines.
For the Ministry of Health, besides providing vaccines for all citizens, the priority has been that vaccines administered in the Republic of Kosovo be vaccines approved by the European EMA and the American FDA, and therefore vaccines against COVID is safe and the most efficient form in confronting Pandemia.
However, even after their safety, we will have to strictly respect the preventive measures, which are physical distance, wearing a mask, ventilation of closed spaces, and hand hygiene, which should continue to be preserved after the vaccine.
