The programme is part of the district's efforts to increase the number of vaccines over the age of 45, writes CNN, translates Periscopi.
Gallih Apria, assistant police commissioner at the Pecat sub-district, said older residents have had much hesitation in taking doses of the vaccine.
So the police started the program to give you a live chicken.
Before the chicken distribution started, only 25 out of 200 inhabitants were willing to receive the vaccine. But now, up to 250 people a day were expressing their volunteerism for something like that.
Gallihu said giving chickens was a sign of love and respect for the elderly.
He added that so far they had donated 500 chickens as a result of the programme.
Ellis Sumiat, an old woman who took the vaccine through this program, said: “I didn't even know if I needed vaccines, but now that they brought in the chickens and said I could get the vaccine, I'm happy. ”
