Caka-Niman accepts the post of Constitutional chairman: Talk about the importance of the Court's independence

Gresa Caka-Niman has also officially accepted the post of Kosovo Constitutional Court by the current chairman, Arta Rama-Hajriz. In her greeting speech, Mrs. Rama Hyrizi spoke of the challenges faced and the achievements of the Constitutional Court during the two mandates at the helm of this institution, with ties except judges thanked all the staff of the Court for their co-operation and hard work, stressing that, “alone, with commitment and joint work the Court managed to pass successfully all challenges, starting with the transition from the combined international composition of the local state, the obvious improvement of the quality of the decisions and reasonings written, the increased integrity and respect of the public, what is the most important, the consolidation of the resource court, the protection of the spirit of the constitution, and the rights of each of the Republic of Kosovo. She recalled that, “through the decisions we have made, we have been assessed as one of the best courts in the region and, as a result, have managed to strengthen co-operation with other courts, partnership with the Venice Commission, co-operation with the Council of Europe, and finally with the European Court for Human Rights””, the report said.

Rama-Hajriz further writes that he voiced conviction that under the leadership of President Caka '%Niani, the Constitutional Court of Kosovo will mark new successes in the future and further consolidate its judicial practice in line with European standards of constitutional justice.

After ceremonial acceptance of the post, Chairman Caka-Niman underlined the importance of the Constitutional Court's independence and its determining role in preserving constitutional order and constitutional values, balance and division of powers, advancing rule of law and democratic rule, as well as protecting the fundamental rights and freedoms of all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

It also stressed its honour and responsibility, in co-operation with all judges of the Court and support staff, to contribute to the consolidation and further advancement of constitutional justice in the Republic of Kosovo. Speaking on behalf of all judges and court officials, President Caka-Niman thanked Mrs. Rama-Hajrizi for dedication and hard work during her mandate as a Constitutional Court judge and chairman for two mandates, in increasing the standards of judgment and the quality of the Constitutional Court's decisions, as well as for its extraordinary contribution to the protection of the Court's institutional independence.
