“munification detection is not enough to protect against a virus revival. Covering 80% of population immunization is still far from”, O regional director warned BSH for Europe, Hans Kluge.
He urged nations to avoid repeating the “monotheism last summer's” when the measures were released prematurely. Cluj warned that the continent “was not at all out of danger” in the battle against COVID-19 despite a steady decline in infection rates in recent weeks.
“With increased social gatherings and greater population movement and sports tournament festivals taking place in the coming days and weeks, O BSH in Europe calls for caution. If you decide to travel, do it responsibly. Be aware of the dangers. Apply sound reason and do not jeopardise”, O European leader said BSH for Europe, Hans Kluj a press conference.
During the past two months, new cases of COVID-19 have dropped, causing 36 of the region's 53 countries to begin easing restrictions.
“We all need to recognise the progress made in most countries in the region, we must also acknowledge that we are not at all out of risk”, he added.
Cluj said that the so-called variant Delta, which was first identified in India, was an issue of concern.
According to him, this option, “shows increased transmatability and many among vulnerable populations, over the age of 60, remain vulnerable”.
