In a written statement, Biden said that today's decision indicates that those who commit terrible crimes will be held accountable.
“Almost 26 years ago, Ratko Mladic ordered the execution of about 8,000 unarmed men and boys in Srebrenica. He also led a brutal multi-year siege of Sarajevo and was responsible for many other crimes. The UN International Appeal Mechanism for Criminal Court in The Hague confirmed its sentence for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes today. This historic verdict shows that those who commit terrible crimes will be held accountable. That decision also reinforces our common determination to prevent future atrocities throughout the world”, the White House said.
