The expanded bilateral meeting, in which some of the president's assistants attended, ended in just over an hour. The first small session of negotiations lasted about an hour and a half, writes The Guardianm.
The White House had initially said that the talks would last between four and five hours, so the summit was actually shorter than what the Biden team expected.
Beden and Putin will now hold separate press conferences to ask questions about the summit.
Before the start of the meeting, it was reported on an incident where, according to journalists at the site, Russian security agents have been shouting at reporters to get out, while White House officials “have returned shouting at Russian security agents not to touch journalists”.
The scene later turned into a mess that lasted a few minutes inside the meeting room. American journalists said Russian security and journalists caught them for their arms and clothes in an effort to keep them back. American reporters tried to clear their way for themselves and an American reporter crashed on the floor.
