Mariam Thompson, 62, admitted to sharing the names of American informants in Iraq with a man he loved.
She said she had been desperately looking for “dicles to love at her old age” and that she did not intend to hurt anyone, writes BBC, translate Periscope.
Prosecutors said she knew she was putting American resources and troops at risk.
Thompson is an American citizen born in Lebanon and worked as an interpreter when he was entrusted with top-secret missions.
During 2017 she fell in love with a man who had relations with Hezbollah and the government of Lebanon, prosecutors have said.
The Islamic political party Shia and the militant group Hezbollah retain extraordinary powers in Lebanon and have strong ties to Iran.
In time, Thompson has drawn even closer to the man in question, with whom he communicated through a secure video and message apps.
In January 2020, the United States had launched an air strike that resulted in Iranian General Sasem Solejman's murder.
Shortly thereafter, Thompson's boyfriend approached her to ask for information about who helped America kill Soleiman.
She had then given dozens of intelligence sources files.
Prosecutors demanded 30 years in prison for the woman in question. /Periscope
