Minister Katumba Wamala's car was attacked with weapons bullets in the Kiasasan Kampala district, an army spokeswoman said.

There were shots involving him. He is injured and sent to the hospital, his driver has been killed”, spokeswoman Flabia Byekwaso told Reuters agency. The NBS television reported that the minister's daughter was also in the car and did not survive the injuries.

In photos published on social networks, Minister Katuba is seen as terrified and stained with blood outside the car he was traveling with.

In recent years, there have been several mysterious killings and deaths of high officials in Uganda. They have sparked speculation about authors and their motive, Reuters writes.

Among the persons killed in recent years are an MP, a senior police official, chief state prosecutor and several senior Muslim leaders.
