Several armed persons have killed about 100 civilians during the attack they carried out last night in a village in northern Burkina Faso, the government of this African state said on Saturday.
The attackers entered the village during Friday night, killing residents of the provica Yagga village of Solhan, on the border with Nigeria. The government announced through a statement that the attackers also set fire to the village's homes and market.
The government named the attackers terrorists, but still no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, Reuters writes.
Attacks by groups linked to I SIS and Al-Qaeda have grown considerably since the beginning of the year in the Sahel region, especially in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. Civilians are most suffer from these attacks.
After the last instance, the government declared three days of national mourning. According to initial data, the death toll is about 100.
Over a million people in Burkina Faso have been forced to move from their homes in the last two years alone, while the poor and dry African country is carrying nearly 20,000 refugees from Mali who have fled from the militants' attacks in their homeland.
