The Argentinan president irritates the Brazilians: They came from the jungle, we from the ships.

Argentina President Alberto Fernandez has sparked numerous reactions on Twitter and a regional debate on race with a comment about Brazilians during Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's visit. “The Mexicans came from the Indians, the Brazilians from the jungle, but we Arginians came from the ships and they were ships coming from Europe”, President Fernandez said, referring to many European immigrants who had come to Argentina. He later apologized for the comment and said that his country's diversity is something to be proud of.
It seems that the president received this phrase from a local singer's song, Lito Nebija, about whom the president in more than one case had claimed to admire, writes The Guardian.
His comments prompted numerous reactions on social networks. Many criticized the Argentinan president for lack of racial sensitivity.
I didn't mean to offend anyone, in any case. Anyone who felt insulted or invisible offered an apology”, Fernandez said.
Eduardo Bolsonaro, congresswoman and son of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, said that the comments of the Argentinan president are racist. “I say the ship that's being flooded is Argentina”, he said.
