Foreign believers will not be allowed to participate in Hadge.
The announcement was made by the Saudi Ministry of Haxhi and Umres, which says ceremonies will be open “to citizens and citizens of the kingdom, with a limited number of 60,000 pilgrims”.
The announcement says pilgrims between the ages of 18 and 65 “who want to perform Haxhin should not have chronic diseases and be vaccinated”.
Hadzi generally attracts more than 2 million pilgrims to the Muslim holy cities of Mecca and Medina. This year it is scheduled to be held at the 17-22 July date.
Saudi officials said this week it is important to be cautious because of the new variants of the Coronobrus.
“We don't want this year's Haxhi to be an epidermist for spreading disease to the Kingdom or in the Muslim world,” said Saudi Media Minister Majid al-Qasabi.
For the second year in a row many countries have already canceled their state-organised pilgrimages to Mecca.
Hadzi's ritual last year was held with the sole participation of about 1,000 believers.
The five-day ritual is one of the five pillars of Islam, and the task that each Muslim has the physical ability to carry out once in his life can afford to travel. / REL
