San Giuseppe Iato's son Bernardo Brusca, one of the most respected members of Cosa Nostra, with the death of his father, Giovanni Bruska, quickly climbed the steps of the criminal organisation, especially being known for his violent approach, often to cross the criminal code of mafia.
Bruska has confirmed, among other things, his active participation in the assassination that killed magistrate Giovanni Falcone on May 23rd 1992, along with his wife and three policemen, covered by the explosion of 400kg of explosives.
But his name has entered the memory of public opinion for a thrilling murder, that of Giuseppe Di Matteo, the 11-year-old son of a repentant mobster, who melted alive in acid, as he himself claimed after beginning to cooperate with justice.
It was his “regret”, which has in fact allowed Italian justice to understand much of the structure of Cosa Nostra, which was previously almost unknown, enabled Bruceca to return to freedom, even though technically he will suffer another 4 years of parole. <
The decision has caused many reactions in Italy, where there is no shortage of tissue, but among them is the appreciation of Giovanni Facones' sister Maria. “From a human standpoint is something that causes me pain, but this is the law, and it's a law that has conceived and supported my brother himself, and therefore it should be respected”, she said.
