Tens of protesters have been arrested in Istanbul during a 1 May march, despite a government-set curfew due to COVID-19 restrictions.
At least 100 have been arrested after clashes with police. May 1 is known in many countries as International Workers' Day and is a public holiday in several nations, including France.
In Turkey, there have been constant protests against the government during May 1st, leading to clashes between protesters and police. The Istanbul Bar Association told AFP that the number of arrests could be 170 people. There have also been at least 11 arrested in Ankara.
Turkey has imposed a strict deadlock since April 29th, due to a third death wave of COVID-19.
