Another tragedy in India, 18 dead from fire in a hospital

At least 18 people, including two health workers, died from a fire that broke out in a coronary hospital in the western Indian region of Gujarat on Friday evening. The fire began around midnight in the hospital's intensive care department “Patel Welka Hospital”, in the town of Bharuch, 185km north of the region's main trading city of Ahmedabad, Reuters writes.
Thirteen patients and two staff members have died of fire. Twelve of them died of flames and smoke. Initial investigations show that the fire was caused by a brief link to the” power grid, a police official said.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on social media that he feels the pain of losing his life because of the fire.
India has faced several similar disasters in hospitals this year. More than ten people died from a fire in a Mumbai hospital on April 23rd. Earlier, 22 patients died in a Maharashtra hospital after the oxygen leak.
