Suez Canal Authority [ The SCA announced last week that it was planning to expand the second lane of the canal that was opened in 2015 for 10 kilometers to make it 82 miles [82 km] long.
The work was launched after directives taken by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Asi “to immediately implement proposed development plans”, reports The Guardian, translated Periscope.
The sound of the huge 440m-long ship called Ever Given had blocked the passage of hundreds of other ships, thus banning world trade.
The new project will expand the two-way section.
Meanwhile, the ship Ever Given, still loaded with thousands of containers, is standing on the Great Lakewown between the two sides of the canal, following demands by the Egyptian authority of the Japanese company to pay the damages to the block that took place during March. /Periscope
