It is known that another 11 people were on a fishing boat that crashed. Two people were rescued, however, nine others are still missing.
Local media report that hailstones fell in the coastal town of Nantong.
The widely published images on the Chinese social media platform Weibo show strong winds running through the city.
Another video seems to indicate a large passenger plane that rotates from the winds until the city's airport floor is parked.
