Through a statement, the Azerbaijann Defence Ministry said Armenian forces fired weapons from several directions to the barracks' positions in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijani enclaves that are divided from the rest of the country and are surrounded by Armenia's territory.
According to the ministry, the soldier injured by the shooting has been taken to the hospital and given first aid, Reuters writes, broadcast Gazeta Express.
On Thursday, Azerbaijan arrested six Armenian soldiers, who he said were trying to cross the border. The move further fuelled tensions with countries that had a bloody conflict with over 4,000 deaths last year.
During the fighting that began in September ended in November last year, the ASer army removed ethnic Armenian forces from parts of the territory they had controlled since the ninth years in Nagorno-Karabakh and around it. The wars ended with a ceasefire mediated by Russia.
