American professor and expert for the Balkans Daniel Serwer commented on Kurt's statement. He told the Serbian portal in Kosovo, “Kosovo Online” that Thaci and others are still innocent.
War criminals are war criminals, regardless of their ethnic affiliation, but they are all innocent until guilt is proven. Former KLA commanders in The Hague, including former President Thaci, are currently innocent for the time being, said Cerwer.
In the case of Sali Berisha, more accurately Washington's decision to stop Albania's former president and his family members from entering the United States due to corruption, Serwer said he knows nothing about the matter, but added that “is the good idea to prevent corrupt people from entering US”.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stayed in Brussels yesterday for a dinner the EU High Representative, Josep Borell, has launched in which leaders of Western Balkan countries have participated.
Kurti has also mentioned the three main pillars on which Balkan and Western countries, including Kosovo, can move towards EU integration. One of these pillars, says Kurti, is the elimination of the political scene of war criminals, yet he has not specified who exactly he is referring to.
