Russia announced that it has classified the Czech Republic and the US into a list of subx0 non-friendly states”, a decision made in the context of growing Russian-Western tensions, marked by numerous diplomats' expulsions.
Under a government decree signed Thursday, the two countries were included in this newly established list of “conducting non-friendly actions” targeting Russia, Russian citizens or Russian organisations.
The signing of this decree comes several days before the first meeting of Russian diplomacy head Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the Arctic Council summit on May 20th in Iceland, which will prepare a Biden Putin meeting in June, reports ATS.
Tensions between Moscow and Western capitals have increased in recent months for a long range of issues, due to the fate of the imprisoned Russian dissident, Alexei Navalny, on the Ukrainian issue or repeated accusations of cyber attacks and spying.
