Central Election Commission member (KQZ) from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Arian Elshani, in an interview for Online Economy, said they are awaiting answers from the Constitutional Court in order to return the mandate to the other member of this party in this institution.
Elshani emphasises that now after receiving the second mandate in the CEC, it will affect their work more because they will manage to cope with political pressure.
“But the PDK is trying to respect both the Constitution, and past standards have proposed two names, where one of them is I, and there is other member Ilir Gashi where we certainly expect the Constitutional Court to continue with procedure and we hope that the answer is what was given in 2018 and on the other side is to return the mandate The PDK belonging to a second member in the CEC”, Elshani said.
The “changes a lot in the work of the CEC and especially when there are two members of a political subject, since it allows you to reflect longer but on the other side to work on long-term planning that in other cases is certainly more challenging and you can't deal with the political pressure being done on the other side and on the other hand, even the activities that are honest and is a relief for a political subject”.
He therefore stresses that they will try to make changes in certain necessary aspects within the CEC, including the digitalisation process and increased transparency.
We'll try to reflect on the real needs and requirements the central election commission has had to change in terms of domestic rules for the counting and voting procedures, even at QNR”.
“... The other aspects of digitalization that are more than necessary for certain processes within the CEC to be digitized so a focus and priority will be these topics that have to do with increasing transparency but also the efficiency of the CEC”, he concluded.
Eight new members of the Central Election Commission have sworn in before Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani on Wednesday.
