Red Roses and off-surgeon: Chizevak mined difficulties

Red roses and a single examiner are all that remains after more than six years of excavations in Kizevac, Serbia. It's not flowers for a dead man, but the place is a mass cemetery. In Kosovo they were killed, buried, then exhumed, and sent to the border to hide crime. Family members now and [...]

It's not flowers for a dead man, but the place is a mass cemetery. In Kosovo they were killed, buried, then exhumed, and sent to the border to hide crime. Family members are now seeking from Serbia at least one bone of their relatives. On November 16th of last year, the first remains of human bone were found here that were later identified as two victims of the Rezala massacre.

Not far from the town of Raska, near Kosovo's border, six-year excavations have been completed last week in an open mine on Serbia's land. The remains of nine missing troops and one that is reuniting the Rezalla massacre have been confirmed in Kizhevac.

The search was long but difficult. In the whole process was legal medicine anthropologist from the Institute of Legal Medicine, Ditor Haliti, who says of Kosovo Press that their goal has always been to ease the hearts of family members.

This was the last week and we've been waiting for it because there's not much work left, but we've already discussed with Dr. Musa, with Dr. Must, that we're so committed professionally that we forget about that human side. Today in conclusion, we were reminded that we should sometimes experience emotional feelings because it is not only professionally enough to focus. Although it is a painful process, however, we consider it to be a relief to families, for their relatives who will finally be returned to their families”, he tells Kosovo Press.

In November last year, the first remains of human bones were found in these improvised research camps that were later identified as two victims of the Rezala massacre.

From the Commission for Missing Persons, the Garage says of Kosova Prees, that this location has links to the Rudnica of Raska location, where more than 50 victims have been exhumed.

“Based on data that we have received from Kosovo forensic experts, samples from the mortor remains that were exhumed into this location during November-30 in 2020, and now during May 2021, were sent to DNA analysis at the International Commission for Missing Persons. Now we expect that through DNA analysis we will be notified and the moment of identification, of course we will proceed with the reportation procedures of Kosovo mortore waste”, he points out.

In efforts to locate the bodies of missing persons during the recent war in Kosovo, so far within the territory there are four locations in which it has been worked. Two of them have resulted in finding two people, while for two others the results were negative. There are also a large number that Gara says have provided instructions for the beginning of the necessary evaluations.

“Based on the first two identifications of last year's findings, during November-December, we have identified that we have two findings and a reunification. The families of the identified persons of the Rezalla” massacre have been reported, he adds.

Legal Medicine Chairman Education Gerjaliu has told of the number of bodies found in this mass cemetery.

Last November 16th “We encountered the first bone waste. Two new cases and a reunification have been found or identified. It connects with half the body that was delivered in 2015 on Rudnica's case. This was the indicator he could meet in the Rezalla region. And in the second phase, which started on May 5th and today is officially closing down are seven people for whom we have to wait for DNA tests. There are nine bodies and a total reunification of ten:x1>, Gerjaliu added.

Although the number of troops found is very small, Kosovo is demanding more than 1600 undiscovered persons. Furthermore, information says that there are 16 mass cemeteries throughout Serbia, but only 5 of them have been discovered.
