The biggest losses in World Cup history: Curachao Adds to List

With the World Cup format expanded, differences between major nationals and modest ones are becoming increasingly visible. One last example was Germany's convincing victory over Curachao by 7-1, on the fourth day of World 2026.
This match was joined by the list of the worst defeats in World Cup history, those of at least six goals.
So far, 20 such results have been recorded, while only six have occurred in the 20th century.
Curachao Germany 1-7 (2026)
Germany quickly advanced, but Curachao equated the first part with the historic goal of Livano Comencina, the first for this national in a World Cup.
However, the Germans responded quickly and marked six more times. Kai Haverstz achieved two goals, while six different players found the net.
El Salvador ) Hungary 1-10 (1982)
This remains the deepest victory in World Cup history. Hungary scored a total of 10 goals, while Laszlo Kiss entered from the reserve bank and realised het-trick within just six minutes, the record that continues to last.
South Korea huh Hungary 0-9 (1954)
The Hungarian golden generation, led by Ferenc Puscas and Sandor Kocsis, destroyed South Korea in its debut in the World Cup.
