Civil society activist Fjolla Mucaj said that today they are protesting the violence and extreme uncertainty of girls both inside and outside school environments, for which he added that the Ministry of Education is accomplices.
The latest “case occurred a few days before the Ministry of Education, has once again shown the frightening reality with which girls grow up in Kosovo. And this reality, where the risk of sexual abuse is ongoing, comes precisely because of social and institutional failure to deal with violence against girls and women as a serious problem and concern for public safety. The institutionalised patriarchate is jeopardising the right to the girls' education and growth in schools, because our institutions have repeatedly failed to make real policies that would treat this as a serious problem”, she said.
According to her, part of the problem is the very media that have reported on the case, and are becoming a serious obstacle to fighting such phenomena.
On the other hand, we are deeply concerned with the media reporting of these cases and consider that part of the problem is the media itself and their scandalous reporting. The media are becoming a serious obstacle to fighting these phenomena, addressing gender-based violence issues as news agency, and beneficial means of violating all human and journalistic principles. The discovery of the identity of victims and children a few days ago shows that this is a scandalous reporting and we will not let it be reported to responsible institutions”, she said.
Fjolla Mucaj also said that all institutions, ranging from family to public institutions, are producing harassment and sexual abusers.
According to her, the sexual abuse of girls in schools is an urgent matter for all to deal with, particularly the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, as it presented the three main requirements.
We've gathered here before MAST to present our three basic demands, and they are: the introduction of sex education in schools, safe facilities for students and students, and the employment of workers and social workers and psychologists in all schools. We will not stop until these requirements are realized and until women and girls feel free in any country where they are”, she said.
Some of the other demands of the protesters were also the departure of sexually suggestive directors and professors from schools.
In the case, where, according to a published video, it is about sexual abuse by two 7th-graders against a six-year-old girl in the courtyard of a school in the capital, Pristina's Komuna, school school directorate and civil society organisations have also reacted.
