Belarusian police arrested opposition blogger Roman Protasevich and his girlfriend, Sophia Sapga, after initially forcing Ryanair's flight to land in the capital of Belarus, causing anger to European leaders, who have named such a thing as <x0 rover” and the act as “Airpiracy”.
In an interview for Newtalk Breakfast, Ryanair's Milchal O'Leary said that “the authorities' aim was to remove his journalist and companion from flight... we believe some KGB agents were at the airport as well as”.
O'Leary's comments were the first confirmation of reports that four other passengers had been detained in Minsk after emergency landing, the duo promoted speculation that Protasevichi had been captured by security service even before the plane was forced to land, reports The Guardian, in Albanian Perskopi.
Executive Director O'Leary said he believed this was the first incident in the European company that had occurred.
On Monday, it was learned that Sapega, a Russian citizen studying in Lithuania, was forced to leave flying with Protasevichi, who is accused of inciting last year's mass protests against President Alexander Lukashenko.
They were traveling from Athens to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, when the plane made an emergency landing in Minsk.
Passengers said Protasevichi was starting to give his girlfriend his phone and other personal equipment when he learned that the flight was being taken by Belarusites.
Neither Minsk nor Moscow have confirmed the arrest of Sapegas, nor is it known whether she will be charged with any crime.
European leaders have scheduled a meeting for today [Monday, May 24th] to discuss actions they will take against Belarus. /Periscope
