Former Minister Bajrami for the 2.1 million stolen: I don't know why those tools aren't turning into Thesar

Bajrami made these comments at the Public Finance Commission's meeting after questioning by Commission member Eman Candman, who posed questions about the finance ministry about the process.

“Have you taken steps even if we have assurances that such thefts will not happen as this 2.1 million has happened and that something has been taken about it or have those tools returned, or what is the situation”, Mr. Canman asked.

In his response to Deputy Finance Minister Ilir Kapiti stated that they are awaiting response from the State Prosecutor.

We also expect an answer from the Prosecutor who handles this case and I believe they will soon come with an answer that will be given to everyone. As for what happens, we have taken all steps. We have daily contacts and meetings with Treasury and Report Yavor to the Ministry for the Development of the Treasury. I believe all elements that have been incriminating and elements that have left space for such things to be done have been eliminated”, the deputy finance minister indicated.

The answer to the VV deputy's question also came from the chairman of this Commission, Hykmete Bajrami, who at the time the theft of 2.1 million was at the helm of the Ministry of Finance.

All the fuses are set up while I was there. Measures have been taken since the first few days. Additional fuses have been established for each step of transactions in Thesar at the time. As a result, payments are paid today with little delay, not the rapid process as it has been. What has always been said, I don't actually believe that even the deputy minister and anyone else who can guarantee that such things don't happen. There is no system that is automatically protected. Those in question have misused official duty, resulting in misuse. The prosecution had information on him from day one. I also care why the tools are not coming back when those tools are known to have gone through economic subjects and individuals from a criminal act. The means should have been returned in the meantime to take the right time”, Bajrami said.

In October last year over 2.1m euros were stolen from the Kosovo Treasury.

Regarding this case, Kosovo Police have arrested L. G., a Treasury worker who allegedly made the transfer of money through four different transactions, to the account of the LDA Group company.
