Baconannis congratulated Kurti on the prime minister's election and on “instability, instead of bringing victory in the” elections, the communique issued by the prime minister's office said.
“Prime Minister Kurti praised the current level of relations with Greece, especially with Athens, and expressed interest in further expanding this co-operation. Chairman Bakojanis voiced confidence that implementation of the necessary reforms in Kosovo, in line with EU recommendations, would empower Kosovo's European perspective. He reiterated Greece's support in the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo citizens. The situation was discussed in the confrontation with the COVID-19 pandemic, possibilities of deepening co-operation in various areas of mutual interest to both countries and peoples”, it is said further.
Greece has not yet recognised the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, but has consistently kept closer relations than the other four non-recognising states of the European Union.
Bakoyannis is closely linked to Greek power. His uncle is Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and his grandfather is his former prime minister, Konstantinos Mitsotakis. /Periscope
