Full status:
As prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo I have agreed with the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore, Mrs. Donika Gervala, for the release of ambassadors assigned with political keys.
This proposal by Deputy Prime Minister Gervala, decreed by the President, Mrs. Vjosa Osmani is the first step in the necessary reform of the Foreign Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora. We've started this reform during our first government of spring 2020, and we've warned it of our election vows and our government programme.
The freed ambassadors have made their contribution to the country for which we thank them. But past governments have overloaded foreign service with political diplomats, thus passing the previous legal quota. Therefore, this step is the right step towards turning legitimacy into this dictatorship.
In co-ordination with Deputy Prime Minister Gervalla, President Osmani and the Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, we will soon start procedures for sending diplomats to our diplomatic missions, where the most apparently greater number will make up career diplomats.
Legality, structural reforms and the establishment of professionalism and meritocracy mechanisms are the pillars upon which our government will build the dignified representation of our Republic in the international arena.
