Kurti at this conference stressed that it is a shame for Kosovo's youth, which is very talented, to face visa regimes.
Kosovo's “Republic is a state of very talented youth. They see the European Union as the opportunity to study and work here and to return and contribute to their country. In this respect we need visa liberalisation. We are the only country in Europe that has visa regimes that for our young people is a major obstacle to studying and doing business. The majority of the population in Kosovo is about 30 years old, and with it so talented youth it is bad to have this wall of isolation”, Kurti said, Telegrafi reported.
He said he will establish contacts with colleagues in Brussels to discuss reforms in our country, but also new recognitions.
“As at any meeting, we confirm the interest and willingness to advance to the European Union, and at the same time, we discuss here in Brussels with our peers and colleagues how to help us make reforms in our homes and the other side, to have the recognition of five states that do not know us”, Kurti stressed.
He said that “we believe the EU is the most important peace and progress project since World War II. And, in the 21st century, we have to protect the European Union and at the same time we have to develop internal ties between states and people, in order to share more European values on one side and prosperity for all people”, Kurti said.
“in particular we are focused on making the ties between Western Balkan states more European. Make transparent process of reforms and co-operation and at the same time have more investments in order to employ youth, which are generally unemployed”, Kurti said.
I'm going to see that during this work dinner, I'm going to create contacts with other leaders and perhaps travel faster together towards the EU, but also to get closer to the knowledge of the Republic of Kosovo, which is good not only for our country but also for peace, security and long-term stability in Europe”, Kurti said.
