KDI: The Assembly to invite Prime Minister Kurti to report on dialogue, there have been developments

The Kosovo Democratic Institute has asked the Assembly to be more dynamicly involved in Kosovo's Democratic Dialogue -- Serbia -- that is said in a media statement sent by KDI. “Referring to a series of developments regarding the preparation phase before the resumption of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process, including the meetings of Prime Minister Kurti in Brussels, visits [...]
This is said in a statement for the media sent by KDI.
“Referring to a series of developments related to the feasibility phase before the resumption of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process, including the meetings of Prime Minister Kurti in Brussels, the visits of dialogue facilitators from the US and the EU, but also preparations for the warning meeting between Kosovo's prime minister and Serbia's president in June, the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) estimates that Kosovo's Assembly has remained in the margin of these” dynamics, said in the communique.
The KDi says MPs and parliamentary groups should take the main responsibility for discussions that connect with preparations of the Kosovo dialogue process with Serbia, but also the very future of this process.
“Since the constitutional framework defines the Assembly as the highest foreign policy overseer body, and therefore dialogue with Serbia, KDI considers that parliamentary groups and deputies should take the main responsibility for discussions that connect with preparations, but also the future of this process itself, putting into use guaranteed research-calculation mechanisms against the executive. In this respect, KDI recognises the recent discussions between the prime minister and political leaders as positive, but it does not see enough”, KDI says.
On the other hand, KDI has called on the Parliament to invite Prime Minister Albin Kurti to report earlier to ask for information about Kosovo's preparations on the eve of restarting the dialogue process.
“That is why KDI calls on the Assembly to invite Prime Minister Kurti's report as soon as possible, asking him to provide information concerning Kosovo's current preparations on the eve of restarting the dialogue process and Kosovo's platform for this” process, KDI declares.
And so, KDI has asked Prime Minister Kurti to be transparent and to have regular reports of self-intensives before the Parliament for all dialogue-related developments.
“While, by Prime Minister Kurti, we ask that, in the function of transparency of the process, there be regular reportings with pre-councilisation before the Assembly for all dialogue developments, including the preparation phase, that would enable the Parliament to exercise more active monitoring”, the KDI statement said.
