The mayors' conference today set the date for voting on the request for the dismissal of Albanian Republic President Ilir Meta.
The meeting was held under the direction of Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruchi.
The conference decided that the plenary session for reviewing a group of MPs' application for the Republika President's dismissal will take place on June 9th, Wednesday, at 10:00.
The investigative commission for investigating serious constitutional violations by President Ilir Meta approved the final report on May 28th. Commission Chairman Alket Hyseni said the final draft report is divided into executive summarys of the report, the order of facts, legal steps, procedural steps, administered in the investigative process, and the commission's assessment and results of the investigation.
After the meeting ended at the media conference, Taulant Balla was released by the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, which confirmed once again that the session for review of the investigative commission's report on violations of the head of state will be held on 9 June.
Balla said the initiative for the president's dismissal came as a consequence of the need to free this important institution from hostage and abuse of office.
“We've just concluded the conference of the mayors where we've met with the report submitted by the investigative commission for verifying violations by the president is a consistent 100-page report and that MPs will naturally take the right time to examine. We have agreed that the report review hearing and then the vote will be held on June 9th, where we have hosted and time to discuss MPs to proceed with the dismissal procedure. The initiative for the president's dismissal has come as a need to free the presidency from a kidnapping and from an unattended abuse of office. The procedure for the new president will take its time and why not be part of a package of co-operation with the new opposition that will return to the assembly on 9 September”, Balla said.
